durumis

[durumis] is the Korean name for a ‘crane’. It is also called ‘durumi’ or ‘crane’.

The crane is a large bird, about 140cm in length, and is known for its long neck and legs. Its maximum lifespan is about 80 years.

Experts suggest that South and North Korea and Russia need to collaborate to conserve cranes.

Cranes are designated as Endangered Species I in Korea, and we believe they are currently facing a severe extinction crisis.

The explanation about cranes has been lengthy. Eventually, we decided on the name durumis by adding the English plural 's' to ‘durumi’ (crane).

The reasons why we chose cranes as the motif for the name ‘durumis’ are as follows.

  • Cranes live in groups of over 100 individuals. Since it is a global service, we wanted to incorporate the meaning of a global community where everyone gets along.
  • Cranes can migrate up to 12,000 km. We hope that durumis will spread news from all over the world.
  • Cranes are very social animals. Older cranes teach younger cranes the shortest route to migrate, helping them reach their destination more easily. The durumis service aims to make it easy for writers to simply write. We don't want them to worry about how to get more exposure, keyword creation, summary writing, or advertising.
  • As mentioned earlier, cranes are Endangered Species I. We wanted to raise awareness about endangered species and promote environmental consciousness.
  • Since it is a global service, we wanted to choose a name that is easy for anyone to pronounce, without any final consonants.

For these reasons, we decided on the name ‘durumis’ incorporating the meaning of cranes.

Finally, it's worth noting that cranes are so familiar in Korea that they are depicted on the back of the 500 won coin.
