[durumi] is the Korean name for '학'. It is called '두루미' or '학'.

The crane is a large bird about 140 cm in length, known for its long neck and legs. Its maximum lifespan is about 80 years.

Experts suggest that North and South Korea and Russia need to cooperate together to conserve the crane.

The crane is designated as an endangered species I in Korea and is considered to be in serious danger of extinction.

The explanation about the crane was long. Ultimately, we decided to use the name durumis by adding an 's' to the crane, which is the plural form of the English word.

The reason why we used the name 'durumis' based on the crane is as follows:

• Cranes live in groups of more than 100. As it is a global service, we wanted to embody the meaning of a community where the whole world does not conflict.
• Cranes migrate up to 12,000 km. We hope that through durumis, news from around the world will spread widely.
• Cranes are very social animals. Older cranes teach younger cranes how to move the shortest distance so they can reach their destination more easily. The durumis service aims to help writers write comfortably. We do not want them to worry about how to get exposure to many people, keyword writing, writing summaries, or advertising.
• As mentioned earlier, the crane is an endangered species I. We wanted to include a sense of awareness about endangered species and to think about the environment once more.
• As it is a global service, we wanted to choose a name without a final consonant that everyone could pronounce easily.

For these reasons, we decided to use the name 'durumis' incorporating the meaning of the crane.

Finally, it would be good to know that in Korea, the crane is so familiar that its image is depicted on the back of the 500 won coin.
